Just rewatched this one on Netflix after not seeing it for years. This was the first time I've watched it on a flat-screen TV with a sound system at the house so it was a bit like watching it new for the first time again.

When people speak of movies that couldn't be made today, this is definitely one of them! 🤣 If anybody ever asks "Why is Gen X so sarcastic?", bear in mind we grew up watching movies like this and on TV had characters like Statler & Waldorf with the Muppets to entertain us. ;)

Something that I had never noticed before was Gene Wilder's performance in it is pretty similar to his portrayal of Willy Wonka just a few years prior. In both films his character remains constantly calm regardless of what is happening around him, his lines are delivered in a monotone deadpan, and even the hairstyle is a bit similar. I know, I know, it sounds crazy, but go back and watch both movies again and tell me I'm wrong. :p Hey, since Blazing Saddles really takes place in the contemporary timeline, maybe Wonka got into the movie business after he retired from making candy.
